The first college football game that was played between Princeton and Rutgers on November 6th, 1869 at New Brunswick in New Jersey. There were many differences between this game of college football and the one we see today. The football was round and the field 120 yards long and 75 yards wide and each team had 25 players.

The growth of college football was fairly slow in the early years and there were only 6 teams by the time a rugby ball was adopted for playing with and the first officials of the game were used.
In the following year a crossbar was added to the goalposts and these remain in use for college football games to this day. The college football field was also made smaller and the members of each team were reduced to 15.

The National Football League (NFL) hall of fame is known as the Professional Football Hall of Fame.  The hall of fame is located in Canton, Ohio.  It was established on September 7, 1963 with seventeen inductees.  The amazing thing about the football hall of fame is Billy Shaw.  Billy Shaw is the only person who was inducted and never played a piece of professional ball in the NFL.  His entire career was in the American football league.  Everyone else inducted into the hall of fame has played football for the national league.  The reason that the building was built in Canton, Ohio was because of the American Professional Football Association was first founded in Canton.  The association was later renamed the NFL.

Football Camp

Football camp is what all students or professionals will go through when it comes to playing football.  Many of the camps will last anywhere between two weeks and a month or more.  This is for them to get in shape for the season and to build their body up.  Even if you believe that you are the best, you need to leave room to improve because everyone can improve some part of their game.  At camp, you endure hours and hours of practices and exercises that allow your body to get to use to the brutality of the season.

For high school kids, they will go somewhere at a college or camp that will isolate them from everything but practice.  This way they can focus on their game plan.  By focusing on their game plan, they will improve their performance.  For college students, they are usually encouraged to get into other sports so they don't have to train hard in the off-season and maybe build up some muscle mass in the off season.
